Literature Text

I can hear them talk
Constantly telling me things
That make me feel bad

Like how I'm stupid
Or how I'll never succeed
Because I'm too dumb

They say I can't win
Because I'm not good enough
To do something great

I am a nothing
They've convinced me so
Nothing that matters

"Go away," they say
"No one wants you around here"
"Okay," I'll respond

I'm ready to go
To leave this life forever
The voices cheer on

But then there's a voice
Not one that I recognize
Trying to call me

I strain to hear it
The voice that calls out my name
From so far away

As the voice nears me
I can hear the words clear now
"I need you," it says

I try to refuse
I try to block the voice out
But to no avail

Soon the voice arrives
Tears in her eyes as she speaks
"You are wanted here

You are loved by me
Even if the world hates you
I will stand by you"

I try to protest
But she doesn't give up yet
She fights for my life

Its when I realize
That as long as she loves me
That's all that I need

The voices still talk
They still make me feel awful
But I'm not afraid
So, this poem was written about something that happened to me. Not going into too much detail, except that when it says love, it's like sisterly love, not romantic love. (Good voice in poem, you know who you are.)
